My Services
Copy editing & proofreading
Your manuscript should go through three phases of editing. The substantive edit (developmental and comprehensive editing) is the first step, followed by the copy edit, and then the proofread. The copy edit covers grammar, spelling, sentence structure, tone, clarity, misused words, punctuation, and flow. Proofreading covers grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, formatting, and layout. The copy edit is done before typesetting, and the proofread is done after typesetting before the final copy is published.
Proof rates are .02/per word, editing rates are .03/per word.
(I do not do substantive edits; however, I fully recommend writing coach & editor Rusti Lehay.)
Typesetting
& Layout
Typesetting is the process of getting your pages ready for commercial printing. I help you select the correct print and trim size, margins, and font typefaces and sizes. I take care of kerning, word spacing, drop caps, book blocks, orphans and widows, illustrations, graphs, tables, page numbering, chapters, headers and subheaders, contents list, copyright information, gutters, bleeds, and more.
I also layout illustrated children's books, magazines, and catalogs.

I use Adobe InDesign to professionally typeset your book, and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for graphs and tables.

Rates for the average 6 x 9" book (text only), under 80,000 words are $1500.
Cover design
for print and Kindle
I create book covers with your vision in mind. Before getting started, I do a video consultation with you to understand what your vision is for your book cover, and from there, we work together to put together exactly what you want. If you are unsure of what you want your cover to look like, I will make suggestions based on the content of your book and its genre.
I work with Amazon, IngramSpark, and Barns & Noble Press print specifications, as well as other book printers.
Visit my Portfolio page to view samples.

The rate for a simple book covers where you provide the image is $350. Without image cover design is $500. Illustrated cover design is $1000.
Kindle eBooks
reflowable & print replica
Every author needs an eBook to go with their print copy. Some authors prefer to sell only eBooks. I create eBooks for Amazon Kindle (including eBook covers).
Professional eBook formatting for text-heavy books includes proper chapter tagging, a clickable table of contents, and reflowable text. Books that contain mostly images, like magazines, comic books, and cookbooks, use a fixed-layout format. Whatever your need, I will help you achieve it!
